COVID-19 – UPDATE

Organised Watersports Activities

In 2021 The Government eased lockdown restrictions For England. .

This means that Water Sports and Activity providers such as ourselves are able
to operate within Covid Safe guidelines .

Although restrictions are being eased it is more important than ever that people respect Government guidelines as they are there to keep us all safe.

For the 2022 season we will operate with:

  • Groups of up to 16 customers These can be mixed groups.
  • If there are more than 8 customers we will add an additional guide up to 16 people which is within our Normal Operating Procedures.
  • As an organised sporting activity the Government allows us to operate to our NOP outside “the rule of 6”.
  • The guidance will allow us to accept people from different groups. .

We have assessed the guidelines and interpreted them for the safe operation of our business as follows –

HOW WE OPERATE DURING COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

1. Before we meet

We need to ensure that there is minimum contact on the day therefore, when booking; payment will need to happen electronically before we meet. Details such as maps are available on our website. You will need to read the information and make payment to confirm the booking

2. We need to ensure that we do as much prep for the activity outdoors. We operate from Fistral Beach Surf School. It is easy to find from central Newquay. We will be able to store valuables clothes etc under local and key for you, during your coasteer .

3. When we meet

  • We need to ensure that we are observing relevant measures between our guides and members of the group at all times both on land and in the water. Although there are no social distancing rules it makes sense to respect peoples space and we hope you are happy to do this.
  • Every element of our kit is washed in a sterilising solution using fresh clean water and Milton tablets. The suits, buoyancy aids and helmets are washed after each session.
  • Wetsuits are rotated to ensure that your group have fresh wetsuits for your session.
  • Hand sanitizer is used by our guides at the start of each session. .
  • Hand sanitizer is available for customers to sanitise their hands before putting on their equipment.
  • Customers are asked to arrive wearing their swimming costumes to make changing easier. The changing rooms and showers are still closed at Fistral until further notice .
  • Guides will be risk assessed for symptoms each day. We ask our customers to do the same. Anyone with symptoms or who has been near anyone with symptoms will not be able to take part unless double jabbed.
  • We will give a clear briefing on all aspects of the Coasteer session. In addition, we will be briefing groups help each other in and out of the water to ensure that sensible protocols between guides and the group are in place at all times. Please be aware we are doing this to try and keep staff and customers safe and ultimately allow us to operate during these difficult times.

4. On return from our session

  • We will get changed and ask customers to help us by placing their wetsuits and equipment in plastic carry tubs provided.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at this time.
  • If anyone in the group has symptoms in the days after the session we ask that they contact us to let us know, which would of course be reciprocated. Your details will be on your participation form which are only ever used in the context of your coasteer session i.e. in case of bad weather, if you leave something behind.

Who can we take?

As an organsied sport, we are allowed to take people from different households, as well as people from the same household live together over and above “the rule of 6”.

Maximum group sizes are up to 16 people + two Guides. Minimum age is 8. We ask that customers are confident in the sea and can swim 75m. Although we can take up to 16 people, we will always try to organise our groups to minimise mixing people – group sizes will be smaller where possible. It is an outdoor activity and we keep everyone at large enough distance to be safe. Groups will be required to split on arrive to kit up.

Where can we go?

We will need to adapt our routes to allow us to operate at a distance but also in some cases reduce some of the jump heights but in the main we will be able to operate in the same stunning locations you see on our website. Towan Head, Pentire Head and Porth Island.

SAFETY FIRST!

Bare Feet Coasteer holds customer safety as paramount, therefore these guidelines are put in place for the benefit of all of us. We can assure our customers that actioning these guidelines during your coasteer session will in no way diminish the experience itself – which we promise will be amazing!

Many Thanks
